*Trigger Warning: Gore, Horror, DV, M*rder, Mental Health*

FAFO, or F*ck Around and Find Out, was a creative cosplay concept presented to me in July 2024 by Rachelle H. to highlight her love for horror films and to advocate for victims of domestic violence (DV).

As a DV survivor, Rachelle wanted to conceptualize through art what it would be like if a victim was to get revenge on their abuser. We understand the implications and would like to note that the model represents a former partner, and not an entire demographic. Mo was a willing participant in the production and was not harmed nor injured.

The 12-hour production included fake blood, props, her Samoyed (who I call Big Floof), and a talented crew. Mo U. was our model acting as the abuser/former partner, Porsha Paradise did make-up and SFX, and creatives Elan P. and Sean D. were excellent support on set.

This session was heavy, yet healing. She took on different physical forms in her creative revenge/release to represent the mental anguish of surviving the traumatic experience. Visual inspirations include films like “Suspiria”, “The Ring”, and “Neon Demon”.
